Review by hotel critic
Nestled in the heart of Doolin village, Oar Restaurant and Rooms became our delightful home base during our festive getaway. The warm hospitality of the staff set a lovely tone for our stay, and the spacious room, complete with a surprisingly modern flat-screen TV and a small fridge for our precious milk, added a touch of comfort that I truly appreciated. After an early morning hike to the breathtaking Cliffs of Moher-just a stone's throw away-I returned to enjoy a refreshing cup of tea, thanks to the provided kettle and mugs. Although we missed out on dining at their award-winning restaurant, which I was dearly hoping would impress, our experience still resonated with that unique charm only found in small guesthouses. A charming café just down the road managed to displace the disappointment with a superb breakfast option. If you're after a lovely stay in a quaint village filled with friendly locals and enjoyable live music, I can safely say Oar is worth the visit. Just be sure to plan your dining experience ahead if you're keen on the fine cuisine; you won't regret it!
